FG has failed to defend Nigerians -Tinubu
former Governor of Lagos State and national leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, on Friday berated the Federal Government for what he described as failure of leadership to defend the country in trying times.
The APC national leader made the call in Benin, Edo State, where he inaugurated the six-lane New Lagos Road and the General Hospital, Ewhohimi, in Esan South East Local Government Area of the state.
Tinubu argued that insecurity and the lack of services in the country were caused by the failure of the Federal Government to meet the aspirations of Nigerians.
He described the statement credited to President Goodluck Jonathan, that his administration was being sabotaged, as an admission of failure by the present administration.
Tinubu added, “A nation fails because of the leadership failures. If there is a good leader at the top, the nation will not fail because fish starts to rot from the head.
“No excuse for failure. Mr. President, we chose you to defend this country. Quit; resign, you can’t do it. Enough of excuses.”

Vatican lit up by Christmas hope and love
The Christmas lights went on at the Vatican Friday, sending out what Pope Francis described as a message of “light, hope and love” at the end of an extraordinary year for the Catholic Church.
As the fairy lights sparkled into life on the 25-metre fir tree on St Peter’s square, there was also an early unveiling of a giant nativity scene inspired by an Italian opera.
Equally eagerly awaited, and scheduled shortly afterwards, was the switching on of a new LED system for the exterior illumination of St Peter’s itself, which was expected to make the cathedral’s famous facade and dome an even more spectacular part of the Roman nightscape than ever before.
The nativity scene at St Peter’s is usually not unveiled until Christmas Eve.

You by Charly Boy
My personal person, personally I know what you are going through this season, these are crazy times, and most of us are about to snap, life is really unpredictable with its twisted sense of humour. I dey feel you die my guy, I understand your pain, your hopelessness in an environment that has promised so much but have given so little. With this mass unemployment, consistent frustration and stagnation, coupled with the anticipation of who will lead you in 2015, how can you break this jinx you ask? I represent you all in this wilderness in the middle of nowhere. I know the frustration you face in trying to carve a niche for yourself, a place to be rooted, something to engage yourbeing with, and something to make you look forward to tomorrow.I am sure you want something to live for and find your way to joy. My
person, I know e don tey wey your life dey waka anyhow, I see how so
many of us have lost faith in this country with many more convinced
that there can be no chance of a turn around, because they see Naija
as a lost case.
Those that have power and are in power, are far too comfortable to
notice the pain of those who suffer, and those who suffer have no
power to speak the truth to power, on one hand are those corrupted by
power, and on the other, are those corrupted by weakness and foolish
fear(Worse still 2015 election brings no hope with it). However
critical our situation is, it is time for exceptional Naijas to rescue
us; no race ever made it this far without breaking away from the
clutches of sycophants and narrow minded mindset. Germany lost
Hitler; America released the slaves and let the plantation rot. Great
Britain finally stopped trying to colonize everybody and beat a wise
retreat into their own backyard. Egyptian youths have had enough, even
Ghana called a spade a spade, and because they did, they are doing
better. Name names, browse through the civilizations, you will see
this painful rugged road stretch out ahead of mankind like a
mathematical formula surviving on the strength of its validity. I must
confess that I have had periods of extended self-pity, sometimes I
have felt conned by this country, some other times I wish I was still
at the prime of my youth so I could really lash out physically on all
those who have sold our future.
We have all ended up trusting nobody and believing in nobody. Still,
I have faith that is why I will always believe in the "exceptional"
few who I know can salvage what's left of our country. And you may
just be one of them. It has been story, story, story for decades now
as we commenced our fast forward descend. It is shameful, it is
unbelievable that in a country packed full with more than a few very
creative, progressive, hardworking intellectuals, we let riffraff,
scumbags, fraudsters, scavengers hold sway, hummmmmmmm, what a mess.
From the East to the West, from the South to the North, from the
senate to the executives all I see is the growing number of scammers
and gangsters. Even this coming election na scam, but are we just
going to sit and watch? My guy, this home grown ‘Demoncrazy’ is
turning into something worse than ‘kleptocracy’. For people without
integrity we know that nothing else matters to them. My guy, we cannot
afford to ignore our future and allow the privileged few to extinguish
us.
Hummmmmm!!!! You are asking me what we should DO? My guy, just be the
change YOU want to see first. The rot has gone way past those at the
top.

Amanda Bynes -- I Want to Be a Trojan Shrink
Amanda Bynes has her sights set on USC and the psychology department ... but this time not as a patient.
Amanda took a VIP tour of the campus Wednesday and we're told she told the folks with whom she interacted she wanted to enroll in the school as a psych major.
It makes sense ... Amanda has had more than her share of interactions with shrinks over the last two years. A staffer from the admissions department told TMZ ... the school does not hold mental illness against any applicant ... if they're qualified and able to engage in studies, that's all that matters.
As for her tour ... several students saw her on the golf cart tooling around campus with headphones, singing "Roar" by Katy Perry.
A USC staffer tells us the earliest she could be admitted is next Fall.

14yr old boy executed in South Carolina in 1944 finally exonerated
70 years after 14 year old George Stinney Jnr. was executed for allegedly beating two young white girls to death in Alcolu, South Carolina, a judge yesterday Wednesday Dec 17th threw out his murder conviction.
When George was executed in 1944, he was so small he had to seat on a phone book in the electric chair. He's officially the youngest person to be executed in the U.S. in the 20th century.
George was found guilty of beating the girls, 11 and 8 years old with a railroad spike. His trial lasted only three hours and it took the a jury of all white people just 10 minutes to find him guilty - this was just 3 months after the girls were found murdered. This was back when there was a lot of segregation in America.
George was arrested after he confessed to the crime, but his older sister always maintained that George was coerced into confessing and couldn't have committed the murder because he was with her the day of the murder.
Civil rights advocates have been trying for years to clear George Stinney Jr's name. They managed to get the case reopened and yesterday morning, Judge Carmen Mullins tossed the murder conviction
